about
‘Hard To Make Plans’ welcomes the questioning of life’s decisions, both big and small, with open arms; an honest confession of internal struggles and uncertainty; painted by Naomi Keyte’s sensitive yet powerful voice amidst a creatively understated instrumental backdrop. Intertwining melodies through layered harmonies, creating a collective choral comfort, the lyrics explore the discomfort of instability, and the consuming confusion we experience as those around us seemingly glide through the most challenging choices - ‘I keep asking all the women, in my life how they decided, they just say it all made sense, but nothing seems to make sense to me’.
lyrics
I heard you say you want to move overseas
Fly to LA, play in Phoebe Bridgers’ band
If you can, and I think you should
And I can’t seem to decide if I’m going to be
a mother or not. Will I have a child?
Am I running out of time?
It’s hard to make plans
When the world is so unwell
And you think you would like to be married one day
Buy a house in the hills and work
Teaching at the university
I don’t know if I’ll ever own my own home
Can I do this alone?
Am I running out of time
It’s hard to make plans
When the world is so unwell
I keep asking all the women
In my life how they decided
They just say it all made sense
But nothing seems to make sense to me
It’s hard to make plans
When the world is so unwell
